Tango Bourges Basket a décidé d’organiser à Bourges, en mai 2013, les Premiers États Généraux du Sport Féminin en Équipe. L’idée de cet événement est née d’un paradoxe qui n’est plus supportable : Le sport féminin en équipe est de plus en plus performant en France grâce aux qualités et aux valeurs développées par les femmes en équipe : fairplay, sportivité, ténacité, courage, beauté du geste, humilité et surtout solidarité. Pourtant, le sport féminin en équipe est méprisé en France. Ce mépris se concrétise par une insuffisance préoccupante de moyens, une faiblesse de l’engagement des entreprises et une médiatisation très déséquilibrée en faveur du sport masculin. L’origine de ce paradoxe est évidemment culturelle et de nombreux observateurs y voient l’expression d’une misogynie encore très vivace.
